It's no secret...I'm a big fan of "The Bachelor." This season was probably the most shocking I have yet to watch. It's sort of unrealistic how they pin 25 women against one man. Of course, on a show like that, of course those women are all going to try to win the affection of that one man. Why? Because women are highly competitive! Regardless of whether or not they thought they would actually be compatible with that one man, they would do whatever necessary to make sure they stood with the trophy next to them in the end. This leads to some of the most desperate attempts at attention I've ever see...like singing like the fat lady in the opera. Someone needs to tell "those types of Bachelor women" that types of moves like that are NOT attractive. There has never been a time in Bachelor history where a woman has sang opera and the Bachelor went, "She had the most beautiful voice! I could see myself marrying that woman!"
So being one of those 25 women, you'd imagine that you could very well be one of the ones going home. In fact, the chances of you going home are way greater than that of you actually ending up with the Bachelor in the end. So, that's fair. No one should say, "I don't understand...I just didn't see that coming!" Which, doesn't make sense in this show anyway because the Bachelor is not allowed to say anything to lead any of the girls on. So, they should ALL expect the worst. But, this season, one Bachelorette thought she'd won. In fact, she got a ring and an "I love you" in the end. Who would've ever expected what was about to happen next? Suddenly, the Bachelor brings our dear, sweet Melissa on national television and breaks up with her. Well...it doesn't end there. He follows his desire to break up with the fact that after he's done talking to her, he's going to see if Molly wants to give them a second chance. Talk about adding insult to injury...in front of millions of viewers. Listen, I've been there. You fall head over heels for a guy to hear that he's breaking up with you to rekindle something he had with an ex "flame." It's a sucky feeling. In fact, most break ups are pretty horrible.
Being a girl who has been put in this position several times (minus the million of television viewers), I can tell you that the first thing you want to do is makeover your life. You are trying desperately to be happy with yourself because, after rejection, all you feel like is a great big, rejected pile. Thus, why most women will don the "break up hair cut." Which, could either look really incredible or really incredibly bad! Either way, most of these women just because it makes them feel like a different person...different from the person who was rejected by a man they deeply cared for. Well, The Bachelor's Melissa gets more than that. In fact, she gets a chance to show her new, made over self in front of the same millions of viewers who saw her rip into the Bachelor Jason after he broke the news about his secret love for Molly. In an act of faith, Melissa accepted a spot on "Dancing with the Stars" last minute...so last minute that she had two days to learn her dance. And after wowing the crowd with her elegance, she shed tears of joy in hearing the cheers and seeing a standing ovation waiting for her at the end of her dance. It can't hurt that she looks incredible...dances like she's in zero gravity...and has the entire nation supporting and cheering for her.
I can't imagine how good it must feel to have redeemed yourself from such a public break up. She could've been the victim...but instead she changed the path of her life and decided to be the change...to be the overcomer. I gotta say, she should be quite the inspiration for every girl who has gone through a break up. Acting in grace and dignity is the best thing you can do. Not only will you feel better about yourself, but you will get the attention of the people around you. I'll be cheering for Melissa tonight as she takes the dance floor once again. After last week's performance, I'm expecting quite the entertaining show!
